How it works

Three steps. Then it just connects.

  1. Zapizap looks for the TVs on your network and lists them by name. No IP addresses to type, no codes to hunt for.

  2. The app shows exactly what your brand needs, one time only:

    • Samsung: Allow
    • LG: Accept
    • Google TV: the code it shows
    • Roku: Control by mobile apps
    • Fire TV: ADB debugging, then OK
    • Vizio: the 4-digit code it shows

  3. It reconnects by itself when you open the app, and it can turn the TV on over Wi-Fi, where your TV supports it.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Will it work with my TV?

It works with Samsung smart TVs (Tizen, 2016 and newer), LG smart TVs (webOS), Google TV and Android TV models (Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips and others), Roku TVs and players, Amazon Fire TV (after you turn on ADB debugging once) and Vizio SmartCast TVs. Apple TV isn’t supported yet.

Do my phone and TV need to be on the same Wi-Fi?

Yes. The app talks to the TV over your home network. Guest networks and routers with “AP isolation” keep devices apart, so use your main network.

Why doesn’t it work with my older TV?

It needs a smart TV on your Wi-Fi. TVs without Wi-Fi only understand infrared, and iPhones don’t have an infrared emitter.

Is the microphone always listening?

No. It listens only while you hold the talk button, and your phone turns the speech into text. You can always type instead.

Is it really free?

Yes. No ads, no account, nothing to sign up for.
